World War II witnessed many daring escapes through treacherous mountain routes that served as passages for fleeing refugees, resistance fighters, and soldiers. These paths provided a glimmer of hope amidst the misery of war and as such survive in our culture as symbols of resilience and humanity, which we experience in our trips.
