Recreation of Lawrence’s journey through Wadi Rum the best we can with local interviews and bedouin insights into where they think he went
Dates: 30 March – 5 April ‘26 and 31 October – 6 November ‘26
Our mission is to follow in the footsteps of Lawrence of Arabia through Wadi Rum to take Aqaba and recognise the integral part played by Arab leaders Sherif Nasir, Auda Abu Tayi and Nesib el-Bekri during this time from 1916-1918. We will talk about desert survival techniques and culture with our bedouin hosts, undertake long days on foot and discuss the battlefield locations and the Nabateen empire.
Initially dismissed by critics as a sideshow, the Arab Revolt was one of the most successful campaigns of the First World War. Conceived and plotted by the Arab Bureau, a branch of British Military Intelligence, from their rooms in Cairo’s Savoy Hotel bringing the idea of a Bedouin uprising to life. We will also visit Aqaba fort, the UNESCO world heritage site of Petra and briefly the Dead Sea coast on our return journey to Amman. If you are a group we are happy to rganise bespoke trips on other dates.
Our mission is to follow Lawrence’s path through Wadi Rum to take Aqaba. Distances up to 22km / day in the desert. We have researched this with local bedouin. Our itinerary is 7 days to include some of the other places Lawrence stayed during the Arab Revolt but we can cut it down to 6 days for groups with little time and still keep the main mission intact.
