Overview

Rock Climbing in the Peak District

Specializing in mountain adventures, we tailor our expertise from charities and schools to small groups and private clients. The Peak District boasts some of the finest and most suitable outcrops for introductory and high performance rock climbing. It also has one of the most vibrant rock climbing scenes in the UK. Many of the crags we use are surrounded by heather moorland and are easily accessible from nearby roads in a 5 to 15 minute walk.

Stanage Edge has 7km of routes and  was recently featured in the classic film ‘Pride & Prejudice’ starring Keira Knightley. It is a perfect place for trying climbing for the first time, taking on a team challenge or improving your grade.

Burbage valley is a stunning location for trail running, climbing and bouldering and other family activities such as weaseling, river crossing, treasure hunt etc. It is also one of our main venues. The rock is gritstone – a rough, textured rock, which is ideal for learning to trust your feet. Our aim is to give you a thrilling and fulfilling day or weekend out on the rocks! We provide you with all the guidance and instruction needed to create a unique experience you’ll never forget.

We are fortunate to have numerous excellent indoor climbing walls located nearby in Sheffield for use during the colder months or for when the weather may become too inclement to climb outdoors. We also offer peak district sport climbing coaching, ideal for those moving out from the climbing wall onto the rock or for those who would like some coaching to improve their performance.

Personal coaching or couples

We offer bespoke Peak District climbing coaching days and weekends. You choose and arrange your accommodation and food and we provide the coaching. Common queries are:

  • How do I set up climbs for top rope safely?
  • How can I overcome a fear of falling?
  • How can I take my climbing to the next level and improve my technique?
  • I’m going away on a climbing holiday soon – how do I get the most out of it?

For groups

Schools and youth groups, charities, team building, stag and hen parties

Rock Climbing is incredibly popular with large groups, helping inspire, educate and bring people together. It is an ideal activity for school and youth groups, team building and charities looking to fundraise. It’s also a perfect activity for stag or hen parties and large groups looking for a fun day out that is thrilling, different and memorable.

We don’t have minimum/maximum group sizes and can cater for small and large groups. We maintain exceptional instructor:client ratios, ensuring that our standards remain high.

Why Us?

We have lived in Sheffield for over 20 years and are extremely familiar with the routes and climbing areas so can take you to the best places for you. Our team member John Arran even once climbed 500 routes in a day in the Peak District. All our instructors have climbed at a high standard personally and have explored many exotic and challenging climbing locations around the world on expedition or  on holiday. After running the courses at the Foundry Climbing centre for years and inspired many different types of groups from corporates on challenges to development programmes in the youth service we can offer a style and programme that works for you.
